Lose The Freshman 15 : It’s the Climb

Happy Friday Fellow Collegiettes™!!

I’m so excited for the week to finally be over and for the weekend to start! I don’t have class or work on Friday which is a lovely change, since I have three classes a day and work all day, errryday. I ended my work week last night with a quick burst of cardio, followed by an evening of rock climbing, my favorite fat burning activity.

It’s a fun, full body workout and I love the way I feel afterwards. Staying fit and losing weight doesn’t mean doing the same thing everyday, in fact if you do that your body gets used to the exercise and you burn fewer calories. So keep it interesting and keep it fun! Try new things!  Speaking of new things to try that are fun, join me and take the Lose the Freshman 15 Challenge with Her Campus and SELF magazine!

This is my second day with the Self Jumpstart Diet. It may seem impossible to eat right if you, like me, are a college student living on a budget, being forced daily to the dining hall to face the wafting scents of french fries and fried food…but the Self Jumpstart Diet isn’t impossible for students who rely on their school cafeterias for sustenance. For example, today I whipped up a quick lunch that follows Jillian Michael’s Jumpstart Diet meal plan and enjoyed a Soup and Sammy: tomato soup and a turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread with two slices of tomato, a slice of cheddar cheese and a piece of lettuce…nutrition facts? 415 calories, 13 grams of fat, 45 carbs, 7 grams of fiber and 30 grams of protein. Delicious and good for you too! There are loads of other options too, all part of the Self Jumpstart Diet.

For tips on how to exercise and stay healthy and happy follow SELF magazine on twitter. Remember, it’s quite a climb but losing the freshman 15 or (like in my case) the sophomore 20, is possible!
