They say that time is money. When it comes to weight loss, I’d say time is calories. By this I mean you often sacrifice healthy foods for easy, quick to get food. Unfortunately, often the simplest food to get isn’t good for you. I found that out the hard way yesterday.
I started off the day on track. I made an egg and cheese sandwich for breakfast and packed some string cheese for a snack later in the day. For lunch I grabbed a fruit smoothie and was planning on heading home around 3 p.m. to workout and make a dinner off of the diet list. But as you know, college life rarely goes as planned.
This weekend is the True/False Film Festival in CoMo and I am coordinating all of the coverage of the event for the magazine I’m working at for my capstone. There were some issues that had to be resolved and so I had to go immediately to the office after finishing my last class. In fact, the only time I left the office after that was to stop by a friend’s birthday dinner down the street for 20 minutes. By this time I was starving and quickly scoured the menu for something that remotely represented anything on the meal plan. Luckily the restaurant had a turkey burger as an option and even though I’m sure it wasn’t as healthy as making it myself, it was better than getting mini corndogs.
I’m sad I didn’t get my exercise in today. I really enjoyed my workout yesterday; it reminded me how good you can feel when you partake in physical activity. Thanks to the film festival though, I did get some exercise running around town and campus trying to make sure everything was in order while also making it to class.
