Cheap Dates for a Broke College Kid

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UVM chapter.

The ice has thawed out and so have the hormones. Spring’s bound for new romance, but as a broke college kid, what will you do? Free as the bees in the trees. Cheaper than dirt cheap. Check out these interesting dates adventures to embark on in Burlington.

  • Go for a midnight walk in Centennial Woods. Wander the paths of UVM’s Centennial woods…in the dark. Flashlight or no flashlight, your call. But it’s better in the dark…

  • Get your sporty spice side out and ask the cute boy in your ENVS lab to ridge bikes to North beach and soak up that Vitamin D (no, vermonters it’s not a myth).
  • So you’ve wound up on Church Street again. Instead of drooling over the scents wafting from every restaurant and contemplating getting a piercing, head to the record store and visit your friends. You know, your pals, Jimi, Janis, Garcia and Dylan. Just chill out and listen…when music hits you feel no pain.
  • Add a little danger to the mix and climb the Williams fire escape at sunset. Bring a little bit of wine, maybe just a little bit of cheese, and let Vermont’s beauty stun the both of you. You may never want to come back down!

  • Keep your dancing shoes in an easily accessible location and eyes peeled for free shows showcasing local bands at the Monkey House in Winooski. You may have never heard of the band before, but you’ll certainly remember their melodies in the morning. Plus, your date can witness that sexy,
“sassafrass” attitude and be awed by your dancin’ body.
