LOVE: New Beginnings

Usually towards the end of a year, people start focusing on deadlines and endings.
But for me, the fall is always a time of beginnings. Coming back to school this fall
as a senior, many of you may expect me to be focused on endings regardless, I’ll be
leaving people and places and the security that a school environment provides very
soon. It’s actually kind of scary to think about.

Instead, I find myself focused on beginnings – new friends I’ve made just in the past
few weeks that I feel like I’ve known forever, new places I’ve been spending time at
that already feel as comfortable as the home I grew up in. It truly amazes me that
in such a short period of time all these things have become so tightly interwoven;
so much so, in fact, that I can’t even imagine continuing the remainder of my senior
year without the support those people and places provide.

Reflecting back a little farther, I remember my freshman year being the same. There
are friends I made in those first few weeks that I hope to be friends with forever.
There are places that I spent so much time in that I know I’ll be revisiting them in
my mind for years to come. New beginnings really are one of the most joyful things
I think life has to offer, my hope is that as college students we all make the most of
the opportunities for beginnings that being in this setting allows us.
