Congrats to the ladies of Delta Gamma for winning Southern Tide’s cooler contest! Started by Michael Hang, a campus ambassador for Southern Tide and a member of UAB fraternity Pi Kappa Phi, the cooler painting competition was a way to raise awareness about the clothing company’s new sponsorship here on campus. Groups of girls from every sorority were asked to paint coolers in colors and themes that best represent the Southern Tide branch, and then upload a photo of their creation to Facebook. The girls had one week to paint the cooler, and then one week to gather up as many “likes” as they could on the photo online to win. Thousands of mass texts and Facebook blasts were sent out to every contact these girls knew. They even spread word to various other chapters of their sororities all across the nation to back their sisters up and send some “likes” their way. In the end, the girls of Delta Gamma collected over 1400 “likes” on their photo, and victoriously claimed the title of campus cooler painting champs. “It’s exciting to know that so many people liked our cooler design, and appreciated all the work we put into it,” says Sydnee Kucenski, a sophomore in Delta Gamma. And what was the prize for painting this cooler? A free item of their choosing off the Southern Tide website. As we all know, nothing can come between a girl and her clothes, so congrats again to Erin Moore, Carolyn Harwood, Gina Heilman, and Sydnee Kucenski of Delta Gamma for taking the prize!
