Jacri Stubbs: Life is my Playground

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USF chapter.

Jacri Stubbs
Major in Business Marketing
Senior in College

Why did you choose the University of South Florida?
“USF had a great business program, the Bulls Business Community. I also liked the modern feel of the campus. I’m not really into the traditional brick-style college towns, so USF was a perfect choice. I chose a Business Marking major because I believe that it allows me to explore a diverse set of opportunities. The major has so much to offer, especially to a sporadic and liberal individual like myself.”

What is your favorite thing about USF?
“Diversity. There is always something new to do or a different culture to learn about. Everywhere you turn, there are different people.”

What are you involved in?
“I am a Corporate Mentor Program, where we are placed with executives in the Tampa Bay area. Also, I am serving my second term as a Senator for the College of Business in Student Government. Outside of school, I currently hold a corporate marketing internship with Raymond James Financial. I also do some freelance modeling in my spare time. I love photography and doing photo shoots for print.”

How would you describe yourself?
“I am weird. No other word could fully encompass all that I do and my personality. I’m nothing short of a genius with the lowest attention span and highest tendency to forget. I hate plans. Spontaneity is the best route for my free spirited and easygoing demeanor. My perspective on life makes me different from others. Life is my playground, where I can have fun, earn money, and make mistakes. We can die anyway, so I take advantage of every opportunity I am allotted. I also seek out new ventures like skydiving annually.”

What is one of your greatest accomplishments?
“My greatest accomplishment has yet to come. I will be graduating in December. First off, it was amazing that I even had the chance to go to college, so graduating is a surreal thing to me. I’ve worked very hard over the last few years and it’s paying off; best feeling ever. Once I graduate, I would love to find work in the fashion and retail industry. Advertising and branding are my strengths and it would be ideal to work within those areas while being surrounded by fashion. I must have a career centered on trends and culture. In the future, I would like to continue my education by getting an MBA with a concentration in Marketing.”

One thing you want to do before you die?
“I want to travel the Great Wall of China. On that day, I will be complete.”

If you could trade places with any other person, who would it be?
“I would trade places with a starving child in Africa. I want to experience the misfortune to better understand, so I may aid accordingly. I would chose either that or Bill Gates. I would literally empty his bank account and disperse funds all across the world to major philanthropic initiatives fighting hunger, poverty, Cancer, HIV/AIDS, etc.”
