Everyone always gets into an uproar about their weight around Thanksgiving and Christmas time. At Thanksgiving, we literally eat feasts after months of not having a great home-cooked meal. During winter break, us Collegiettes go home, help bake tins upon tins of Christmas cookies for each nights dessert. Who can resist a sugar cookie? If you can, please let me know how, because those are my biggest weakness! Really, the reason we all get uptight about our weight during the holidays are treats. I’m going to share with you all some of my favorite fall treats (along with the recipes).

The Original Pumpkin Pie
Another thing we can’t resist during the holidays is the ever so popular pumpkin pie. It’s fairly easy to make. It comes right out of a can! You can even cheat and buy the Pillsbury ready-made crusts! All you need to do is follow the directions on the can of Libby’s Pure Pumpkin! No, but really, it’s that easy.

Mini Caramel Apples
Those big caramel apples are just so delicious and so messy. These are a fun, bite-sized snack and are the exact same thing. Get some green apples at the grocery store along with soft caramels, sprinkles (of course), and mini cupcake liners. You’ll also need lollipop sticks and a melon baller. Take the melon baller and scoop out pieces of the apple. Put the lollipop stick where the green skin is and dip the apple in the melted caramel then straight into the sprinkles. After, be sure to put them in the liners for a fun, bite sized treat!

Marshmallow Pilgrim Hats
Sure this sounds lame, but they’re actually really cute and very delicious. And chocolate covered marshmallows are one of the yummiest inventions ever! Grab a package of the chocolate striped shortbread cookies, regular sized marshmallows, chocolate morsels, toothpicks, and yellow decorating frosting before making these yummy treats. Put the cookies striped side down on a tray covered in wax paper. Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave. Using a toothpick, dip each marshmallow in the chocolate and set on top of one cookie. Let the marshmallow and cookie chill and then pipe a yellow square in the center of the “hats.”

Since it’s almost Thanksgiving, that means Winter is almost here! Here’s a sneak peak of one of my favorite Holiday desserts!

Peppermint Bark
Peppermint, to me, is the official flavor of the holiday season. That’s why this is one of my favorite treats. One of the easiest things to make is peppermint bark. All you need is candy canes and lots of white chocolate. Melt the white chocolate and crush the candy canes with a food processor or a hammer. Who thought we would ever use tools in the kitchen?! Add most of the peppermint pieces to the melted white chocolate and pour onto a cookie sheet layered with waxed paper. Sprinkle the remainder of the peppermint on top of the mixture. Put the tray in your fridge for 45 minutes and your peppermint bark is ready to be cut into squares and served!
