Go Overseas: HC’s Favorite New Travel Resource

Embarking on a journey. Crossing the pond. Taking a trip. No matter how you say it, we all want to do it. Her Campus’ most recent find, Go Overseas, has plenty of ways to make it happen.

Rather than just highlight the typical study abroad route, this gem of a travel resource turns the spotlight onto some other underrated ways to head to a different country. (Graduating seniors, pay attention. You haven’t missed your last chance to travel to another country before stepping foot into the post-collegiette’s™ working world.)

Go overseas presents a collection of the web’s most amazing opportunities to teach, volunteer or intern abroad. Filter programs by country, research your favorites with past participants’ reviews, make your decision, and then let Go Overseas pay your way! Well, help pay your way at least. The site awards scholarships for each type of abroad opportunity (studying, teaching, volunteering and interning) each year.

Among our other favorite features?

The question and answer forum. Going abroad is rewarding, yes. But the planning can be just as stressful. Let the Go Overseas staff make the process a little bit easier. Post any (or all!) of your burning questions and they’ll be answered by the experts.

The travel resources page. While the big bad Internet is an awesome place to find deals, steals and tips for going abroad, there are some misleading sites out there. Go Overseas provides a great list of trustworthy finds on topics from hostels to insurance.

The country profiles. This is the ultimate accumulation of information on every country you could ever want to visit. Read short descriptions, learn the demographics and soothe your overprotective parents with the contact information of all the foreign embassies.

Head on over to Go Overseas, and find your perfect way to satisfy that nagging travel bug!

Sarah Weinberg is a student at San Diego State University, Class of 2012. She is attempting to overcome her aversion to multitasking as she pursues courses in Liberal Studies, Spanish, and Journalism. Sarah has always been interested in the “behind-the-scenes” aspects of the fashion and lifestyle industry with journalism being a prominent prospective path. Now, much of the time that she should spend working on homework and writing papers is instead spent pouring through magazines and lusting over ridiculously priced shoes, impeccably styled pictorials, and the glamorous lifestyles of the cover models. It isn’t unusual to find Sarah baking (anything with a large amount of chocolate), traveling (last stop: summer abroad in Granada, Spain), playing in her closet (never too old to play dress up), or hanging out with friends and family (how cute and cliché). She is currently a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista.com and is thrilled to become a writer for Her Campus.
