The time has come collegiettes.
For the past month and a half, TCNJ’s Student Government (SG) has been working toward giving students at the College a way to voice their opinions on issues regarding our campus. After much research, SG has finally found a platform for feedback: Speak Out TCNJ.
The new website, that went live yesterday, is modeled after the University of Virginia’s ‘Speak Up UVA.’
Speak Out TCNJ is a website designed for students to voice their concerns, complaints and ideas, in a way that ensures them that they are being heard.
How does it work, you ask? Well students can type a post regarding their issue or concern and other students can log on to the site to ‘vote-up’ the post (it is similar to liking posts on Facebook), moving it to the top of the list of concerns. SG members will then be able to see what students on campus find to be the most important issues and will respond with feedback regarding what they are doing to fix the problems.
“We want two-way, rather than one-way, communication,” says junior Vice President of Advancement Christina Kopka.
As a completely student-driven site, SG members will be able to understand the true issues affecting our campus as a whole. However, Kopka says it is only going to be as good as students make it.
“We can’t address the issues students want addressed unless they tell us,” says Kopka.
Speak Out TCNJ is one of the first steps that students can take in making improvements on campus. It is also a way for SG to open the lines of communication between the student body and the College’s administration officials who will be able to implement the changes needed.
So start thinking about the changes you want to see on our campus and use your voice collegiettes, because Speak Out TCNJ is here and ready to listen.
