Made for a Collegiette: TipsySkipper

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Princeton chapter.

Welcome to the newest Her Campus Princeton column: Made for a Collegiette. On a regular basis, we will feature a brand, product, or our current obsession. We hope that you Princetonettes will find the featured products, obsession, and brands not only fantastic but utterly desirable. Let us know what you think in the comment box below.

Her Campus Princeton Meets TipsySkipper

We all know that Princeton is considered the preppy ivy. Granted, a look at Take Ivy confirms the presence of polished Princetonians on campus. Nowadays the pearls and high heels are often abandoned for a pair of jeans and a top—not a T-shirt, usually a nice top; these fashion choices are practical. Occasionally Princeton collegiettes™ trade Uggs and Tops for black dresses, penny loafers, and pearls. These are the moments that confirm the preppiness that is Princeton.

Kearsley Lloyd, the owner of TipsySkipper, has created a line of nautical shoes, totes, and clutches; Kearsley drew upon her experiences at Vineyard Vines and Lilly Pulitzer–do you see the influence?–in order to launch TipsySkipper, her senior project at Rhode Island School of Design. The TipsySkipper brand consists of classic and timeless products.

Kearsley kindly answered a few of Her Campus Princeton’s questions regarding TipsySkipper and our favorite TS product: the clutches.

Ajibike Lapite:
Are the clutches named after the welsh privateer Captain Morgan? If so, why?
Kearsley Lloyd: Yes, I am a descendent of Captain Morgan, so I like to commemorate him on occasion. I’ve inherited his fearlessness and sense of adventure, which I hope infuses the spirit of the TipsySkipper brand – but my business practices are so much more honorable!

ALWhy is Tipsy Skipper the perfect place for a Princeton collegiette™ to shop?
KLTipsySkipper is a shot of vacation – and who needs a class break more than a hard-working collegiette starved for fashion excitement?! Nassau Street and Palmer Square are divine (I have lived in Princeton and know this to be true), but just wait until you see the upcoming TipsySkipper line, ladies! A treasure trove to make Captain Morgan shiver his timbers!

Our Favorite TipsySkipper Products
{1} Captain Morgan Clutch

Our absolute favorite line of products at TipsySkipper are the Captain Morgan Clutches. In particular, we absolutely love the Key of Sea in Turf (featured on the left) and the Key of Sea in Ribbon (featured on the right). Our other favorites are Shellacked in Conch and Starboard Tack in Shadow

{2} Skipper Skimmers

These shoes are not only adorable but entirely comfy. Yep, these flats can definitely class up your walk from Forbes to the EQuad. Our favorite prints are above: That’s a Croc in Slo Gin Fizz (featured on the left) and the Fleur-de-Sea in Mon Cheri (featured on the right). Another pair of skimmers is check out is Queen of Diamonds in Clamshell

Personally, I would kill for a Captain Morgan Clutch! What do you think collegiettes? Let us know in the comment box below and if you know of brands that your fellow Princetonettes will adore, leave that information in the comment box below.
