HC: When did you first start playing soccer?
AP: I started playing soccer when I was about four because my older brothers were constantly playing and I wanted to be just like them.

HC: Is it hard playing a varsity sport as a freshman just starting college?
AP: I absolutely love being a part of the Brandeis Women’s Soccer team! I think that getting to be a part of the varsity program as a freshman has been an incredible opportunity as I got to meet a whole new group of people as soon as I entered Brandeis and join the tight knit community that is the team. It’s always nice to know that someone will be there for you no matter what when entering a new situation.

HC: Did you always want to play soccer in college?
AP: I knew that I definitely wanted to play either tennis or soccer in college, and finally decided that soccer was the way to go in the fall of my junior year. I’m really happy with my decision as it brought me to Brandeis.

HC: Is it hard balancing schoolwork and soccer?
AP: I’ve had a lot of practice with balancing school and sports from high school to now, so the adjustment isn’t to dramatic. I try to focus on school from 9-4, and that gives me plenty of time to get the majority of my work done in time for soccer. I have found that at night I end up having a ton of free time to just relax.

HC: So, how do you like Brandeis so far?
AP: Brandeis is a one-of-a kind school, it’s definitely not for everyone, but it’s the perfect fit for me. The people here are some of the nicest you’ll ever meet, the proximity to Boston is unbeatable, and just the general feel of the school makes me so glad I chose Brandeis.

HC: What do you do like to do for fun?
AP: Shop haha, it’s a problem as my parents can attest but I just really love clothes and fashion. My whole team makes fun of me for looking presentable when they are decked out in sweats but I can’t help it. So maybe the proximity to Boston isn’t the best thing for me…

HC: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
AP: 10 years seems so far away! Maybe married? I try to live in the moment. I definitely want to be working, hopefully somewhere in the medical field potentially as a Pediatrician. It’s something I’ve wanted to do since I was little.

Andrea is a sociology major with minors in journalism and women's and gender studies. She is currently finishing her senior year at Brandeis University. She was born and reared in Los Angeles, CA, which does mean that she is a die-hard Laker fan… Sorry Bostonians. When Andrea is not routing on her favorite basketball team, she dedicates her time to her many passions. They include reading and writing about fashion, traveling, exploring new restaurants, spending time with friends, watching reality television (she has a weak spot for Bravo), shopping, and working out.
