Game Day Style

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UGA chapter.

Saturday in Athens isn’t just about football. For the guys it make be but for the ladies it’s a chance to show off your style while cheering on our Dawgs. With the month of October being void of home games it gives you the perfect chance to prep your closet for when the bulldogs return to Sanford Stadium. Whether it’s your first year at UGA or your fourth, we can all use some polishing on our game day ensembles. Here our what you will need for a successful game day wardrobe:

#1. Red Jeans

While your game day dresses are great, the temperatures will be dropping soon making them not always practical. So invest in a pair of bold red jeans. Not only are the stylish and bold but they also do a great job in showing your bulldog pride. We are loving Red Dress Boutique’s Gossip Girl Jeggings. Pair them with a pattern black and white blouse and you’ll be sure to wow crowds at Sanford.

#2. Chunky Knits

Nothing says fall like football and a chunky sweater. So the two of them together make the perfect pair. Not only are knits super stylish but they will also keep you warm during a cold November game. We are currently lusting after Cheeky Peach’s Pattern Knit Cardigan. Just throw it over a red top with your favorite jeans and black riding boots. You’ll be the highlight of any tailgate.

#3. Pattern Tops

Add some depth to your look by picking up a few pattern tops. Whether it’s stripes, Aztec print or a chevron print, patterns are the perfect way to make your outfit standout amidst the sea of red and black. Private Gallery has some great options including their Aztec Sweater Tunic and their Sheer Button Down Top. Don’t be afraid to try new and unusual patterns. You might be surprised by how amazing you look in them.

#4. Invest in Scarfs

A scarf is the perfect accessory to take your outfit to the next level. Not only are they super in for fall but they also won’t break your bank. This Skull Scarf from Cheeky Peach is the right amount of edge that also exudes team spirit. Or this plaid scarf from Encore is perfect for those of you with a more classic style. So go out and snatch up a few red and black scarves in assorted patterns. They are an easy way to revamp your game day wardrobe.

#5. Add a little Mix

Dresses have seem to become a uniform for UGA’s ladies but that doesn’t mean it’s your only game day option. Try mixing it up a little. Maybe pair a basic bulldog t-shirt with an edgy leather skirt. Or wear that jersey you have in the back of your closet. Throw a leather jacket and a fun scarf on with it for a simple yet stylish look. Don’t be afraid to branch out from the cookie cutter mold of game day dresses.

The key to the perfect game day look is to be yourself, be comfortable and show your school spirit. If your outfit has all of those you will be sure to turn heads.
