The Fall 2012 Her Campus Chatham Team

Now that Fall Break is finally here, it seems like an appropriate time to highlight the team behind Her Campus Chatham this year. Each week, I’m privileged to work with this talented and driven group of women. Thanks for being fabulous, ladies!Mara Flanagan, Campus Correspondent

Dr. Katie Cruger, Faculty Advisor

Fun Fact: Dr. Cruger focuses on environmental communication in her research, but she’s also deeply committed to living a sustainable lifestyle. From cooking vegetarian meals to making her own compost, she’d make Rachel Carson proud.

Lejla Avdagic, Events Director 2012/2013

Fun Fact: Lejla did an incredible job organizing this year’s October Spirit Day. She’s currently working on exciting events for the rest of the academic year. Expect cupcakes, movies, and lots of lollipops.

Amy Chau, Social Media Director

Fun Fact: Though Amy is a Biochemistry major, she’s got serious musical talent: she’s a violist with the University of Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra!

Fun Fact:  Like Amy, Kayla is also a gifted musician! Before coming to Chatham, Kayla studied Instrumental Music at Pittsburgh Creative and Performing Arts 6-12.

Fun Fact: Casey’s been with Her Campus Chatham from the beginning; she’s known for bringing enthusiasm to every meeting and event!

Fun Fact: If you want the coolest rock/alt playlists on campus, talk to Sam: she’s a music connoisseur. 

Gretchen Geibel, News/Lifestyle Section Editor

Fun Fact: Gretchen is an extraordinary singer and actress. You can catch her as Magenta in the first-ever Chatham production of Rocky Horror this October!

Catherine Giles, Sustainability Writer

Fun Fact: Catherine hopes to spend her future as an environmentalist focusing on women’s health issues. 

Alex Heathcock, Fashion Writer

Fun Fact: Alex wants to move to New York City and work at a fashion PR firm after graduation.

Laura Jackson, Grad School Reporter

Fun Fact: Laura wrote her last article for Her Campus Chatham this September; she just got her Masters of Professional Writing this year. Congratulations, Laura!

Fun Fact: Kayla is a super-skilled Studio Arts major who loves working in watercolor.

Fun Fact: Julie is the Founder and President of Chatham’s new This is me! Gay-Straight Alliance. She’s the woman behind many of the events on campus honoring LGBTQIA Awareness Month.

Shannon Ward, Writer

Fun Fact: Shannon is a sustainable crafting expert. Her Halloween costume even won “Best Use of Recycled Material” at the 2011 Halloween Dinner. 

Stephanie Welling, Photo Blog Section Editor

Fun Fact: A Digital Media major, Stephanie knows more about horror movies than possibly anyone else on campus. 

Onastasia Youssef, Blog Section Editor and Entertainment Writer (center)

Onastasia is a fabulous singer who is currently majoring in Art History.

  Mara Flanagan is entering her seventh semester as a Chapter Advisor. After founding the Chatham University Her Campus chapter in November 2011, she served as Campus Correspondent until graduation in 2015. Mara works as a freelance social media consultant in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She interned in incident command software publicity at ADASHI Systems, gamification at Evive Station, iQ Kids Radio in WQED’s Education Department, PR at Markowitz Communications, writing at WQED-FM, and marketing and product development at Bossa Nova Robotics. She loves jazz, filmmaking and circus arts.
