Pin Your Way Through the Week

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Quinnipiac chapter.

So it’s the dreaded last week before thanksgiving. We’re all exhausted, stressed and drowning in work before that God-sent week-long vacation. For me, the only thing that keeps me sane and motivated during my long nights in club ABL is a much-deserved (okay, only sometimes) pinterest break! Yes, I admit it, I’m on the addicting site as much as you are. But, I must say – I’ve found some inspirational pins during my hours on the media network. These quotes remind me that good things come to those who work for it, and inspire me to continue on until I reach where I want to be in all things in life: school, my relationships with friends and family, work, my future goals, and my bucket list. So go ahead, log onto pinterest and start pinning – you never know what might come from it! You can see all my favorite sayings here:  http://pinterest.com/caromarie…

“You know, sometimes all you need is 20 seconds of insane courage, just literally 20 seconds of embarrassing bravery, and I promise you, something great will come of it”: This quote from Matt Damon’s ‘We Bought A Zoo’ encourages me to just live life and stop worrying about the consequences. I always find myself overthinking every decision I make, and this reminds me that sometimes we just need to let it be.

“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page”: This one speaks to the traveler within me. Growing up, I made a bucket list of things I wanted to do before I died, and over the years, the travel section became so large it became its own list. For all you big dreamers out there, I hope this one speaks to you as much as it does to me.

“The best things in life aren’t things”: Sometimes, especially in today’s society, we get caught up in material things. I admit to it, and it’s possibly the greatest downfall of our generation. This quote reminds me that there’s more to life than those new boots or that to-die-for dress; it’s actually the memories, the people and the moments that count.

“Don’t chase anything but drinks and dreams”: Sometimes in college culture, or just in our crazy little girl world in general, we can get caught up chasing after things that just aren’t worth it – boys, fake friends and people we just don’t need in our life. This little pinterest find reminds me of the only two things that are worth being chased, so stop playing that boy’s game, drink up and chase that dream of yours!

“The cure for anything is salt water, sweat, tears or the sea”: This one rings close to my heart. Being from the Caribbean, not being able to be in the sea, on a beach or just in the tropical paradise I call home is driving me crazy! This reminds me that as stressful as everything is right now, I’ll be home sooner than I know and nothing can ever be wrong once you’re in that salt water.

“You’re a human being, you live once and life is wonderful: so eat the damn red velvet cupcake”: Okay, so this one isn’t all that inspirational – but Emma Stone hit the nail on the head. As Drake said it, “you only live once”, so basically we should stop overthinking everything and just live. Life’s amazing, we should live it up

“Let your hope make you glad. Be patient in time of trouble, and never stop praying. (Romans 12:12)”: This bible verse that I stumbled upon keeps me calm whenever I’m stressing. The thought that God can help me get through anything helps me through my difficult times, and reminds me that my faith will forever be there for me even at the darkest times.

“When I first moved to New York, I bought VOGUE instead of dinner. I just felt it fed me more”: This famous quote from NYC fictitious fashionista Carrie Bradshaw (or the equally fashionable SJP) speaks to my inner fashion whore (okay, I’m addicted to fashion – it’s a problem, just look at my pinterest boards and you’ll see!). It inspires me to keep working and makes me believe that maybe one day I just might be able to make it big in the fashion world. This reminds me to never give up on my dreams – if all goes as planned, I’ll be writing in there one day!

“Fair is where you get cotton candy”: My last quote definitely describes my personality – snarky, sarcastic and blunt. This quote, however funny it may be, definitely rings true – life is just not fair. We just have to pick up, continue on, and hope that things change for us along the way. As Robert Frost puts it: in three words, I can sum up everything I know about life – it goes on.

So take a study break, hop on Pinterest and find yourself inspired for the night!
