Secret Starbucks Drinks

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

It’s 8 PM.  It’s cold outside.  And the only thing getting you through this next Bio exam or English paper is the peppermint mocha you ordered from Starbucks. From the months of September to December, Starbucks holiday menu is in full swing.  Between Gingerbread Lattes and Pumpkin Spice Fraps, nothing spells finals week like a classic holiday drink (…the caffeine is also a bonus).

Well, coffee lovers, what I’m about to reveal may be life changing and there is no better week to find out about Starbuck’s secret menu than finals week.  Yep, that’s right.  Starbucks has a secret-menu.  Okay, so maybe it’s more of a word-of-mouth, unofficial menu – but the drinks are amazing.

1. Dirty Chai

Want your regular Chai Tea Latte, but need a little extra caffeine boost?  Well, look no further than the Dirty Chai.  It’s a normal Chai Latte, but with a shot (or two) of espresso.

2. Dirty Hippie

For all my vegans and lactose-intolerant friends, there’s an alternative to the Dirty Chai – the Dirty Hippie.  That is, a Dirty Chai with soy milk instead of regular milk.

3. Thin Mint Frappuccino

A Girl Scout classic in the form of a frap?  Yes please.  Order a Tazo Green Tea Frappuccino with chocolate syrup and java chips.  Add a pump of peppermint syrup and you’re good to go.  It may sound weird, but it tastes exactly like the cookie.

4. Nutella Latte

Nutella lovers – be warned.  This drink is addictive.  Ask for a Caffe Misto with a shot of chocolate, hazelnut and real caramel syrup.

5. Cake Batter Frappuccino

This decadent drink is perfect for dessert.  The Cake Batter Frap is a normal vanilla frap with vanilla bean and almond.

6. Three C’s

That is, cinnamon, chocolate and caramel.  Ask for a Cinnamon Dolce Latte with a pump of chocolate mocha syrup and a pump of caramel syrup.

7. Green Eye

No, not a Red or Black Eye (in coffee language, apparently, that means one or two extra espresso shots, respectively).  A Green Eye goes straight for three.  So if a regular cup of coffee is not doing the job for your all-nighter, I recommend this extra caffeinated beverage.
