Winter can be an amazing season, filled with playing in the snow, wearing comfy sweaters and sitting by the fireplace. However, I’m sure I’m not the only one who gets super dry skin, especially on my hands and face! Here are some tips to beat dry and flaky skin!

1. Apply Moisturizer

For the face, no matter if I’m going out or staying in for the day, I apply moisturizer. If I forget, I can feel the difference in my skin. The moisturizer will help re-hydrate your skin and help you feel refreshed! It is also important to apply moisturizer before you put makeup on your face. One of my favorite moisturizers to use is the Ponds Dry Skin Moisturizer that I purchased at Target! It has a lot of product in it and it lasts forever. A little dab of it goes a long way!

2. Put on Some Grapseed Oil

Another method to hydrate the face is Grapeseed oil. I know what some of you are thinking, why would anyone put oil on his or her face? A couple of winters ago, before I knew how to treat my dried out skin, my mom suggested I use Grapeseed oil that we had in our house. At first I thought she was crazy but it worked like magic! For a couple nights I rubbed a bit on my hands and then smoothed it into my face. Within days, my skin was back to being hydrated and fresh. You can even use this oil to add shine to your hair or remove your makeup.

3. Apply Hand Cream Once a Day

Hand cream is one of my favorite things to use to moisturize my hands. Hands and fingers tend to get very chapped during the winter. A good one I use is L’Occitane cream. They are never greasy on the skin and smell amazing. It is good to use a hand cream once a day in order to prevent chapped or even bloody skin on the hands. Fingernails and cuticles can also get dry so I always rub the cream on my nails as well. If you do have more damaged and dryer hands it is better to go with a thicker hand cream, such as the Bath and Body Works “Lay it on Thick” hand cream.

Do not forget to put lotion on your entire body, especially after you shower and Chapstick on your lips! I hope you found my tips helpful! Stay warm and moisturized!
