Exciting UCLA Happenings

1) Have you ever dreamt of walking down the side of a building? Well, apparently Choreographer Trisha Brown has, and she actually decided to make this dream a reality. Dancer Amelia Rudolf did, indeed, walk down the side of the eight-story-high Eli and Edythe Broad Art Center at UCLA on Wednesday, April 3rd, 2013 for the dress rehearsal of “Man Walking Down the Side of a Building.”  The actual performance was on April 5th, 2013.

2) Barack Obama, during his State of the Union address last month, said that “mapping the human brain [activity]” is something he wants to strive towards because it will allow us to find clues to how depression, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s Disease, and other diseases are formed. What’s so great about this is that here at UCLA, we have the staff and available tools to do this. John Mazziotta, chair of the neurology department and director of the UCLA Brain Mapping Center, came up with the phrase “brain mapping” back in 1993, before most of us students were even born. With our top-notch nanoscience and nanotechnology background, hopefully this is something that UCLA can really build upon in the coming years. How COOL!

What an incredible school we attend. U-C-LLLL-A!
