Cam Serigne (’17)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wake Forest chapter.

Name: Cam Serigne
Year: Freshman
Hometown: Northern Virginia
Relationship Status: Single
Major: Undeclared, interested in business
Personal Motto: Everything happens for a reason.
Favorite spot to hang out on campus: Luter lounges
Favorite meal on campus: Moe’s

HC (Her Campus): So you’re a freshman football player. What are you most excited for this season?
CS (Cam Serigne): Definitely just the experience of playing in the ACC.

HC: What’s the best part about being a student athlete?
CS: It pushes you and helps you manage your time. You develop really good relationships with your teammates — they’re your boys.

HC: You must be super busy with school and football. What do you do to relax?
CS: Sleep. Just sleep. We have 6:30 a.m. practice every day.

HC: Would you ever want to go pro?
CS: Definitely. That’s a dream of mine. But, you know, you’ve got to have a back-up plan.

HC: Then besides football, what’s your dream job?
CS: The business track. Owning a corporation maybe.

HC: You’re clearly an athletic guy, but what’s something that people might be surprised to know about you?
CS: I play guitar. It’s a hobby of mine and I actually taught myself.

HC: If you could travel anywhere tomorrow, where would you go and why?
CS: Well, I’ve moved ten times…

HC: Wow, there’s another surprise.
CS: (Laughs) Yeah. I lived in England for two years. But I would probably go back to Spain to Barcelona. I’ve visited there a few times.

HC: So you’ve been all over, but you’re from Virginia. Do you consider yourself a Southern gentleman?
CS: I mean I’m originally from New Orleans, which is the South; but Northern Virginia isn’t southern at all. I’m a gentleman, but maybe not a southern gentleman.

HC: As a guy, do you have any advice for Wake Forest girls?
CS: I guess just have a good sense of humor and don’t be too stuck-up.

HC: And where would you take a girl on a first date?
CS: Definitely out to a nice dinner and a movie then take her home…like, drop her off.

HC: What’s your go-to pick-up line? Does it work?
CS: Ooh, you’re really testing my mind today. Compliments, those always work.

HC: Who’s your celebrity crush and why?
CS: Let me think. There are a lot. I’ll say Jennifer Aniston—she’s old, but like…

HC: Hot?
CS: (Laughs) Yeah.

HC: So what qualities do you look for in a girl?
CS: I like a girl who is a good, genuine person. Outgoing and obviously attractive…I guess just a cool girl.

HC: You just described your ideal girl. How would you describe yourself?
CS: In a few words, I’m a pretty laid back guy and I go with the flow. I like to have fun, but at the same time nothing too crazy.

HC: What would you say is your guilty pleasure?
CS: I’ll tell you what, I love junk food a lot. Watching a movie and eating junk food…ice cream, all that good stuff. I can’t really eat that much of it though.

HC: Are you not allowed to because of football?
CS: Well when you wake up and workout so early you don’t really want to waste it. Every once in a while I slip up. I love food, that’s the thing. When I go out to eat I want some good food and I like a girl that can eat.

HC: We all have embarrassing moments at Wake. Tell me about your funniest slip-up so far.
CS: Hmm let me think, there’s got to be a few. I’ve definitely gotten lost and walked into the wrong class. But we were the only ones here this summer and it’s hard to embarrass yourself around your teammates because everyone is just goofy.

HC: What’s on your Wake Forest bucket list?
CS: To do some sort of prank, something like that. I also want to find the underground pathway in Luter, which a teammate told me about, and go to the top of that bell tower. I haven’t thought of them all yet.

HC: What are you looking forward to most in your four years at Wake?
CS: Meeting new people, playing football. Definitely the education.
