Now that the leaves are falling and the air is getting crisper (some days more than others), it’s time to embrace autumn. How do we do that? There really is no better way than with food. And what’s our favorite fall food? Pumpkin. Anything and everything involving pumpkin.

Despite the fact that most of us are die-hard pumpkin-lovers, we recognize that we can’t subsist off of pumpkin alone. Check out all the different flavors of fall below and brighten up your day with one of our favorite recipes!

Pumpkin Pie

This is a tried-and-true recipe used frequently by yours truly (always with great success!).

Pie Crust (Makes one crust. Double it if you’re making an apple pie.)

  • Blend 1 cup flour and 1/3 cup Crisco in a bowl with a pastry blender (or fork) until the mixture resembles a coarse meal.
  • Sprinkle 3-4 tablespoons of very cold water and mix with fork.
  • When dough starts to clump, gather it into a ball and roll it using a rolling pin cover and a pastry cloth, which works best when sprinkled with flour.

Pumpkin Bread

If you’re looking for a good dessert food that can be used for breakfast too, pumpkin bread is definitely the right choice. If you ignore the blatant product placement, this is a great recipe.

Apple Pie

How could we possibly top pumpkin? With an apple pie. Fannie Farmer has the best recipes by far and this pie proves it.

“Dessert first” is the best policy to have, but we can’t live off sweets forever (even though we dare to dream). There are plenty of savory foods that really hit the spot, too. Check out these savory recipes to warm up your next fall day:

Curried Butternut Squash Soup

This recipe is not for the faint of heart (or the culinary-challenged), but the resulting product warms you up quickly and tastes great even after it’s frozen!

Biscuits

Biscuits might seem unexciting, but this cheese-filled recipe makes them taste amazing. And what better to go with your butternut squash soup than a warm, buttery biscuit?

Beef Stew

This is technically more of a winter food, but works great in the fall, too! We all need to warm up a bit on a windy day. Plus, we hate to say it, but it kind of feels like winter already… So try this recipe to warm up ASAP.

Ratatouille

(Watching the movie while making/eating this recipe isn’t required, but highly recommended.)

This recipe is gluten-free, which means anyone can enjoy it.

We’ve provided you with a nice range of our favorite fall foods here, so hopefully you can try and fall in love with at least one of them!
