Queen’s Women In Leadership Conference

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Queen's U chapter.

The Queen’s Women in Leadership Conference left delegates feeling empowered and inspired after a 3-day convention at the Downtown Kingston Marriott from November 7th-10th. Bright young women from various schools including Queen’s, Concordia, McMaster, and Ryerson came together for an unforgettable experience to learn more about thriving in a male-dominated workplace and how to become successful in all aspects of life. The conference hosted students of all ages, as well as students from diverse faculties, and allowed delegates the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge from a multitude of keynote speakers and workshops. Among these speakers were Sarah Davis, CFO of Loblaws Companies Ltd, Michele Maheux, Executive Director of the Toronto International Film Festival, and a style workshop presented by Alexander Liang from Kenton Magazine.

This year, QWIL’s theme was “Taking Charge of Change,” teaching delegates how to embrace change and utilize it to benefit their future. These young women were instilled with an abundance of knowledge throughout the week with the various speakers, workshops, luncheons, networking sessions, and the case competition. With the great organization of the QWIL executive, generous sponsorship from companies, and inspirational stories from every speaker, QWIL was a major success and left delegates excited for next year’s conference.
