College Fashion Week (CFW), presented by Her Campus, is a nation wide event that celebrates and promotes fashion for college women. This year CFW hit four cities, Orlando Florida, Auburn Alabama, San Diego California, and Boston Massachusetts. As writers for Her Campus, and perpetual lovers of all things fashion, my friends and I jumped at the chance to attend the Boston show.

The show was held at The Estate, a Boston nightclub that had been transformed into an all black runway that in a very Her Campus fashion had been covered in pink and purple roaming lights. As an unexpected surprise my friends and I were chosen to fill the VIP seating that surrounded the runway. Along with our up close and personal seating we, along the other VIP’s, received a bag of free giveaways provided by the vendors. The bag included a NeuroSonic enhancement drink, a Poppin’ notebook, an Sports Club LA three day guest membership pass, a Tieks’ gift card, and much more. Throughout the show the host and founder of CFW, Windsor Hanger, offered many other chances to win giveaways through social media contests and challenges.

The show itself was divided into five parts, all featuring realistic clothes that fit in seamlessly with every collegiate wardrobe.

  • The first scene, “Wake Up and Work Out,” was filed with classic cut workout attire colored with bright neon’s. The best part was that male trainers from Sports Club LA also accompanied the models to continue to spice things up ;)
  • In between the first and second scene, the Dear Abbey’s, a fantastic, all male acapellla group from Boston University performed a medley of Justin Timberlake songs.
  • The second scene was “Class Wear.” This scene displayed head wraps, cut out sweaters, and patterned pants, all based on Windsor’s very true saying, “Go to class? I am class!”
  • The third scene was “Work It,” which for the Boston show meant a how to of what to wear to work. The runway consisted of everything from a classic chunky heel to a way to how to wear leather skirts in the office.
  • After the third scene, the Boston College Irish Dance Club came out and preformed a mix of traditional Irish step dance with contemporary music.
  • Scene four, “Twerk It” showed party looks for every college girl. These included peplum shirts, embellished collars, skater dresses, and even a hoodie dress covered in sequins.
  • Scene five was a surprise for the viewers, as only the models and staff knew that it was going to happen. This one was called, “Twerk or Treat,” and it displayed fun costumes, which left the entire room very excited for Halloween, which was right around the corner at the time!
