With break quickly approaching, I’m looking forward to a lot of down time spent with my family. During the hustle and bustle of the school week, we get wrapped up in our work that we forget all of the things we have; we take things for granted that other only wish they had. There are so many things for which to be thankful. I mean, we attend one of the best universities in the world! It’s easy to forget how privileged we are here at Notre Dame. Making a list of things you’re thankful sounds cliché, but this Thanksgiving I urge you to take some time and think about all of the things with which you’ve been blessed.

I am thankful for my family. I’m thankful for my parents who push me to be the best person possible. I have learned so much from them and I would not be half the person I am today without their help. Their advice (almost) never fails and I can’t thank them enough for that. Additionally, they keep pushing me to do better. They support me no matter what and I could not imagine growing up any other way. Even though my brothers and I don’t always get along, they’re still family. I’m thankful that they unknowingly force me to be a positive role model. I don’t want to let my little bros down!

I am thankful for my friends. Friends are family that we get to choose. I may be a little biased, but I think mine are they best. They are always there to listen to my problems and they don’t make fun of my quirks. I’m thankful that I have people to confide in and people who make me laugh no matter what kind of day I’m having.

I am thankful for my professors. I am thankful that they are passionate about what they’re teaching. If they weren’t enthusiastic, learning the material would be much harder. I’m thankful that they are open to meeting outside of class to make sure their students understand the material. They truly care about our well being and they want us to succeed.

I am thankful for coffee. While this is more whimsical than the other things I’m thankful for, it is nonetheless important. Coffee is amazing. It gets me through the week. It instantly warms me and puts a smile on my face. I am thankful that I am able to find joy in something simple.

Finally, I am thankful for the ability to write for Her Campus ND. I am thankful for how these girls took me on board as part of their team. HCND allows me to express my thoughts and opinions and then share them with the public. I am thankful for how my writing has become more effortless. It is making me grow as a person and it’s a truly amazing experience to be a part of such a great website.

No matter what you’re thankful for, take some time and reflect. Let people know that you appreciate what they do for you. Don’t take things for granted because somewhere out there, there is somebody who is wishing for what you are lucky enough to have.

Hey everyone! I love to write and cry over episodes of One Tree Hill (don't judge). My favorite things to write about are fashion and music. I am definitely an animal and plant lover. I'm a South Bend native so in a way, Notre Dame has always been a part of my home.
