Boise State Basketball Star: Anthony Drmic

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Boise State chapter.

What’s better than seeing a Boise State basketball star on the court? Getting to know one off the court– duh! This week Her Campus took some time to interview the awesomely talented Boise State basketball star, Anthony Drmic.

Disclaimer: It was a tough choice whether to interview Anthony as a cutie or a campus celebrity… if we had our way, he’d be both!

Quick Facts:

Age: 21.

Year: Junior.

Hometown: Melbourne, Australia.

Major: Communications.

Favorite Color: Purple or blue.

Favorite Food: Mom’s cooking.

Her Campus Boise State: So, let’s start out simple. Why did you choose Boise State?

Anthony Drmic: Obviously basketball was the main reason. I got recruited by a lot of schools, but I picked BSU because of the community. A lot of seniors were graduating, so I got to start right away.

HC: That’s awesome! So how long have you been playing basketball?

AD: Since I was five. My brother played, and he played professionally. As soon as I was old enough to play, I kind of wanted to follow in his footsteps.

HC: Aw, how sweet! So, what’s the best part of playing for Boise State?

AD: It’s the fact that I can still play basketball while getting an education at the same time. I have a lot of friends here, and I was able to come over with another Australian so that was nice.

HC: What do you miss most about Australia?

AD: Family and friends. I really miss summer, too because I’m never there for summer anymore. When it’s summer here, I’m home– but when it’s summer there, I’m here!

HC: What do you want to do when you leave Boise State?

AD: Hopefully I can keep playing basketball! I really want to go to Europe maybe– but the NBA is the ultimate dream. Basketball is pretty big in Europe, though, and that’s a more realistic goal for me.

HC: Hey, we think you’re good enough for the NBA! Describe yourself in three words.

AD: Oh man, I don’t know…how about outgoing, athletic, gamer?

HC: Gamer? Who knew!? So, what video games do you play?

AD: League of Legends. It’s really nerdy but a lot of people play it. I love playing games that are competitive.

HC: Hey man, do your thing. Okay last question: what’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you?

AD: Back in Australia I played basketball all the time but here it’s weird to have “fans,” I guess. One time somebody came up to me and was like, “Can we get a picture?” THAT was weird.

HC: What can I say? That’s celebrity status for you! Thank you Anthony and good luck for the rest of bball season!
