Her Campus Montclair’s Oscar Picks for Best Picture

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Montclair chapter.

Hello, hello! The 86th annual Academy Awards also known as the OSCAR’s is nearing and here at HC Montclair, we’ve conducted a list for our favorite nominated films and why from our team and a fellow classmates.

For Best Picture…

Jacquelyn – “As much as I would love ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ to win for Best Picture (because I’m a huge Leo fan so he gets my Best Actor nomination) I’m going to have to go with ‘12 Years A Slave’ or ‘HER’. Both films were so empowering and visually stunning! Not to mention the acting done in both films were exceptional. I’m seriously hoping Gravity doesn’t win… that movie was horrible and so overrated.”

Stephen- “I haven’t seen all the films nominated but I’m going to go with ’12 Years A Slave’. The acting was amazing and it really showed the brutality of slavery, like it didn’t sugarcoat anything at all, it all seemed very true and real … and the story itself was great.”

Tanya- “I really liked ‘American Hustle’! The story line was really interesting and I went to see it mainly because of the great reviews and the fabulous cast. Jennifer Lawrence was amazing in this movie.”

Rich- “My favorite nomination has to be ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ – I mean seriously, that movie was so ridiculous and completely crazy but it kept me entertained the whole time and I really enjoyed every minute of it. It would be cool to see it get the Best Film award.”
