How to Spend Spring Break at Home

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at C Mich chapter.

Spring break is a time where most college students take a road trip down south or hop on a plane for a week for some fun in the sun. Unfortunately, not everyone has the money to afford a trip to the tropics to lounge by palm trees, with a drink in their hand.

For those spending spring break at home, you tell yourselves you’re going to take this time to accomplish many things on your to-do list. In reality, the week is gone and before you know it, you’re already packing to come back to school. Here is a preview of how your spring break may look if you’re staying home this year.

You’re home and starting to realize how much fun your friends on the beach are having for break.

If given the chance to go back in time, you would have saved your money, and gotten on board with everyone else who’s enjoying spring break the right way.

Since that’s not an option, you now have all the time in the world to start a new series on Netflix that you’ve been dying to get into.

You can’t seem to move from your computer or press pause when the screen says, “Next episode coming up in 15 seconds.”

The only moving you’re doing is to the kitchen to grab some food and then return right back to your spot.

You start to realize that you haven’t interacted with the outside world for a day or so.

Your parents start to nag and ask questions like, “What have you done all day?”

You even realize you need to start getting some things done.

Instead, you decide to call your friends in your hometown that didn’t go on vacation, and make the rest of your break a good time.

The next couple days are spent catching up on old times at your favorite local bars and you’ve even managed to have the specials memorized.

Finally, you start to recognize how much you’ve been procrastinating and decide to spend the rest of your free time wisely.

You panic and realize you should have taken advantage of this break to knock out that long list of things you need to do.

Before you know it, the week is over and it’s time to head back to school to hear all of your friends’ spring break stories.

Now, it’s back to reality and time to finish off the rest of the semester right. Even though you weren’t able to spend your spring break in paradise, don’t waste any more time. Enjoy what’s left of the school year and even though you missed some crazy times on vacation, the best holiday is right around the corner… St. Patty’s Day!
