HerCampus Editor Meg talks careers, jäger bombs and… Breaking Bad?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Southampton chapter.

Following on from last week’s interview with HerCampus editor Leon, this week we spoke to Meg, his co-editor about all things uni, nights out and shopping!

HC: Hi, Meg! So what year are you in at Southampton and what do you study?

MD: Hi, HerCampus. I’m a second year english and film student and really, really enjoying it!

HC: That’s great! What attracted you to editing for HerCampus then?

MD: I love writing and I thought it’d be really interesting to see what it was like to be on the other side of the system! I love coming up with things for writers to write about and reading all the great articles that our contributors write, they’re really interesting and funny and just all round good articles!

HC:So is journalism something you’re considering as a future career or just a fun hobby whilst you’re at university?

MD: To be honest, I’m not really sure what I’m going to do once I finish! I like writing about relationships and clothes, but whether you can make a full career out of that I’m just not sure! I’m looking into a career maybe in the media of some description though.

HC: Sounds like a plan! And what about outside of uni and HerCampus? What do you like to do in your free time?

MD: I’m quite sociable and I love nothing more than a Saturday night out with friends – I’m always first onto the dance-floor! I’m quite a girly-girl so big into shopping, clothes and shoes! Also, as much as it pains me to admit it, a bit of a Breaking addiction has taken over recently! Also, I’m a bit of a crazy dog lady in that I have two Labradors so spend a lot of time with them.

HC: I think everyone’s a little bit addicted to Breaking Bad at the moment! And now for the two most crucial questions… What is your night out drink of choice and the song that really gets you going?

MD: Haha, obviously the two most important questions! For me it’s either a Hooch or a Malibu-lemonade, but once things really get going, the jäger bombs are coming out! And my favourite song at the moment is My Love by Route 94. A great night out track!

HC: Everyone likes a good jäger bomb! Thanks for the interview, Meg!
