Pound: The Latest Exercise Craze

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tulane chapter.

Group exercise classes are a great way to break up your usual gym routine.  If you’re sick of the usual Pilates, yoga, or Zumba classes, try out the latest trend, Pound.

Pound is not your typical workout.  The thing that makes it unique is the use of Ripstix, a pair of light, plastic drumsticks that work every muscle in your body.  Pound is a full-body workout that combines cardio with plyometric and isometric movements through the use of the Ripstix.  Each workout is 45 minutes long and sculpts infrequently used muscles, while also raising your heart rate and burning through fat.

Not only is Pound an amazing workout, but it also provides stress relief.  Who doesn’t love whacking the ground with some plastic sticks in order to get out all of the tension from the week?

If you’re not a fan of group classes, Pound also makes a DVD with workouts that you can do in the comfort of your own dorm or living room.  The DVD comes with a pair of Ripstix.

Check out a video of the workout here!
