Finding a Job As Told By Dylan O’Brien

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Northeastern chapter.

So you’ve come to a point where your parents aren’t shelling out anymore money,

And you’re beginning to realize how much things actually cost.

You decide it’s time to be an adult and start making your own money,

So you start the wonderful process of applying for a job!

You go hunting for Help Wanted signs and fill out hundreds (well, it feels like hundreds) of applications.

You want to aim high, but most places that are hiring only offer minimum wage.

Meanwhile all your friends talk about their easy, high-paying job and expect you to be happy for them

After sending all of your paperwork in you anxiously wait for someone to call you back.

Then one day one of the businesses calls; they want to set up an interview!

So here comes the hard part: convincing your interviewer you’re perfect for the job.

And trying not to be as awkward as possible when talking to them.

You leave thinking you definitely got the job,

Then you never hear back and have to tell yourself it’s not you, it’s them.

But you know there has to be someone out there that wants you, right?

Well you don’t hear back from almost every place you applied to and interviewed for,

And are convinced you’ll never find a job and never have any money and your life is over,

Until you finally hear back from the last place you applied to that you got the job!!

Now you can actually buy things yourself and not have to beg your parents for cash!

But now you have to start worrying about taxes, late night shifts, getting to work on time, and unreasonable bosses.
