Spring Preview: A Royal Court Attendant’s Perspective

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FAMU chapter.

“I did not know that the campus was this big, I am really enjoying myself,” said Kasha Matthews, a high school senior from Pensacola, Florida.

Spring Preview was the main attraction for many visitors at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University on March 29th. Spring Preview is a recruitment fair that informs interested high school students from across the world about Florida A&M University. From 8:00am until 3:00pm the students were given tours around the university. There were many seminar tables in Al Lawson gym that presented information about the university’s schools, colleges, clubs and organizations. Scholarships were also presented to the students that applied.

Towards the ending of the event there was a huge social for visitors with food and music. Many FAMU students stayed around to meet and greet the visitors. Orientation Leaders, Presidential Ambassadors and others worked all day to make this event a total success.

Farrah Allen, high school senior from Columbus, Georgia said, “FAMU was not my first choice, but after taking a tour around School of Business Industries and becoming well informed I felt welcomed! I love it here already. I am really enjoying myself I am so excited to attend in the fall.”

Candice Williams, junior social work student and Presidential Ambassador said, “I take time out of my day to help recruit students to this university because I love to instill FAMU traditions and spread the love that was shared to me to many others.” The rain did not discourage FAMU students and staff from recruiting and visitors from attending. There were more than 1,000 students who attend the event.

Spring Preview was a success, thanks to many hardworking students and staff at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University.
