10 Things You Do When You’re Drinking

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCF chapter.
There are good ideas, there are bad ideas, and there are drunk ideas- which, ironically, can fall into either category. Ideas can go from being immediately shot down when sober to being celebrated when restated later after a few shots. On a typical night out, here are a few ideas that sound so much better as the night progresses:

1. Fast Food

“OMG. You know what sounds sooo good right now? TACO BELL.” Yep, great idea. Eat it tonight because your “diet definitely starts tomorrow”. “Can we pleeeeeeease go get some McDonald’s. I will literally pay for your Big Mac if you take me.” You’ll pay for my $2.00 midnight meal? Big spender.

2. Shots… For everyone.

You love your friends, and that cute guy across the bar… And that friend of a friend who’s visiting from out of town… And the bartender.. You’re just trying to show your appreciation and generosity, right? Waking up to a $70.00 tab the next morning, priceless.

3. Snapchatting

Quickly compare in your head the snapchats you send by day vs the ones you send by night. This is especially dangerous because you can’t look back at what you said the next morning, you can only hope for screenshots of evidence.

4. Texting your ex

You know what, there really is no better time to tell your ex just how great you’re doing on your own than right now. Vodka soda in one hand, cell phone in the other. You’re empowered and way too confident.

5. Karaoke

You’ve always wanted to try out for American Idol, you just needed a little liquid courage. Your turn? Oh it’s always your turn. The rest of you can wait.

6. Excitedly greeting acquaintances

OMG it’s that girl (what was her name, Chloe? Courtney?) whatever you totally LOVE her after you (had a class with her? Worked with her?) and you just HAVE to go say hey! And yes of course you two should definitely catch up and get lunch.

7. Confrontation

You’ve been harboring this anger or annoyance for a while now. Subtle passive aggressive ignoring isn’t enough anymore, and this is for sure the perfect time to talk things out. But wait, why were you mad again? Eh, irrelevant.

8. Telling your friends how much you love them

This is something you should do all the time, but somehow those mixed drinks really bring out the emotions in you and you feel the need to tell your friends you love them. So much. Bonus points if this is followed by an endless string of compliments.

9. Procrastinating

You’re probably really good at this already (thanks, Netflix) but now you have a whole new perspective. That paper? It can wait. YOLO amiright?

10. Speaking in another language

It’s actually alarming how many times I’ve heard the claim “I speak perfect Spanish when I’m drunk”. Maybe the school system has been doing it wrong this whole time, throw out the textbooks and bring in the tequila!

Hobbies include stealing way too many free mints from restaurants, incorporating song lyrics into everyday conversation and becoming way too attached to TV series on Netflix.
