Company Spotlight: Serengetee

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at KU chapter.

“Wear the world.” That is the known phrase for the brand Serengetee. At the beginning of second semester, I was lucky enough to receive the opportunity to become a campus representative for this incredible brand. Today, I am here to spread the word and let you know how incredible they truly are.

Serengetee is a charitable brand that makes t-shirts, sweaters, backpacks, sweatshirts, and other clothing items. What makes this company unique is that for each item you get to pick a pocket fabric. Each fabric option goes to a different cause all over the world. They currently work with 32 causes ranging from organizations such as “Living on One” in Guatemala, “A21 Campaign” in Italy/Hungary, and “Feed My Starving Children” in the U.S. Each purchase send 5% of the profit to the organization that matches your pocket. Not only does your purchase go to a great cause, but the fabrics they offer are awesome and so unique because each one is actually inspired by the cause it supports.

Now that right there is all pretty cool, the coolest part about this company is that it was actually started by college students. It was inspired by a group of students who were studying on a Semester at Sea. They were so inspired that they came back from the trip knowing that they had to do something with this idea they had. In Spring of 2012, they launched Serengetee out of their dorm room with every last penny that they had. They knew they wanted to have the mission of wanting  “ to connect people to the globe through fabric while giving back to the communities that inspire our products,” and that’s just what they got out of this. Today, Serengetee is one of the fastest growing clothing brands in the world. Pretty incredible for a couple of kids who started this out of their dorm room, right?
