The never-ending winter of 2013-2014 seems to finally (!!) be coming to an end. So, it’s time to pack up those sweaters and dark tones that we’ve become so fond of, and bring out our pastels and summer dresses! Every spring I’m so excited that the weather has finally warmed up, and I end up buying a bunch of stuff I never wear.  However, this year, I’ve decided to be a bit more strategic and make a list of all the items I will need to make me summer-wardrobe ready! Take a look at some of the items I decided are must-haves for this spring/summer.

1. Floral Shorts

I was never a huge fan of floral but this season made me a believer! Floral shorts are super cute and a nice way to break out of the high-waisted denim shorts rut.

2. Beach coverup/Caftan

For all those who go to the beach to make a fashion statement as well as soak up some rays, then a caftan is the perfect way to do it. A bikini and cutoffs is always the perfect summer outfit but if you want to be a little trendier, this is the way to go.

3. Something crochet

Yeah Coachella is over, but festival-chic is always in style! Crochet is super versatile and perfect for summer because it’s cute and it will keep you cool!

4. Slip dress

The 90s are definitely making a comeback and while I’m not sure how I feel about the reappearance of the halter top I am definitely behind the reappearance of the slip dress 100%! This is the perfect type of dress for a date night during the summer because it looks effortlessly beautiful, giving you that easy, breezy, I-woke-up-like-this look!

5. Envelope Shorts

Again, a perfect way to switch up your look if you’re kind of tired of high-waisted shorts. These are very on trend and for those girls who want to make a scene wherever they go. Definitely not for those who don’t want to stand out in a crowd; if you wear these shorts, you are guaranteed to make a statement.

6. Kimono

These are my newest obsession and it appears I’m a little late because I’ve been seeing tons of BU fashionistas rocking their kimonos all over campus in a very cool way. To sum it up, kimonos are awesome. It’s a really easy piece to style and you can pair it with a basic tank top and denim cutoffs and look like a million bucks.

7. Palazzo/ wide-leg pants

Like the slip dress, these pants are just effortless. You feel like a goddess wearing them the way they flow when you walk and they make your legs look like they go on for miles. Also, they are super versatile depending on what kind of pants you get; a tailored pair will give you a more polished, formal look while a fun, colourful pair is perfect for that I-just-came-back-from-the-Caribbean look.
