6 Favorite Female Leads on TV

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Pitt chapter.

Just in case you need another reason to binge watch a show, here is a list of some of my favorite female leads on TV.

1. Mindy Lahiri in The Mindy Project

Mindy Lahiri is every girl’s sprit animal. She understands us; she feels our pain and our joy. There might not be another woman on TV that I can actually relate to other than Mindy; she loves fashion, food, and hot men. She also hates the gym and idiots. I feel like I get emotionally invested in all of her relationships—is that weird?

2. Leslie Knope in Parks and Recreation

Leslie’s never-ending optimism and enthusiasm about her small town of Pawnee is admirable. Nothing gets Leslie down; if her plans fail she only tries harder and always has a smile. She loves waffles and Ben’s butt, and we love her.

3. Claire Underwood in House of Cards

Claire is the ultimate “ice queen.” She knows exactly what she wants and gets it. She shows no fear or hesitation in doing what needs to be done despite consequences. There is no force that can stop her—success is the only option. I can only hope I will never be in the way of a Claire Underwood.

4. Olivia Pope in Scandal

Olivia Pope, the notorious “fixer,” is one of the coolest women on television. She is calm and collected in the most chaotic of situations. Olivia can handle anything with grace; have we ever actually seen her have a complete breakdown? If I had to handle half the things she did, I’m pretty sure I would be admitted into a mental facility. I can only dream of being as put together as her.

5. Christina Yang in Grey’s Anatomy

As one of the top doctors on the show, Christina has grown so much since the beginning of Grey’s. She is strong both emotionally and mentally and shows so much passion in her career. I don’t know any other character that has shown as much growth as she has.

6. Raven Symone in That’s So Raven

Throwwwbaackkk. Raven is awesome; she can see into the future and has more sass than anyone on TV. She uses her powers for good and has a great time with her friends. Raven can sing and act and was easily my fiercest teen idol.
