It’s that time of the year again. The week when you stress, trying to catch up with last minute assignments and preparing for all of those tests that are building up. Finals week has to be the worse week for students and professors (yes, profs too) because it’s a busy week for all, but it is also the week before summer vacation – it’s a confliction of emotions. Stress and excitement are probably the two strongest feelings we experience. But before you can enjoy your summer vacation and your freedom from school, you need to get through your finals.

Her Campus has just the survival guide to help you do so:

1.       Plan ahead of time.

The hard part about finals week is that you need to study, but also begin preparing your stuff to leave for summer break. Prepare what you need for each class about two weeks in advance – check what’s going to be on the final for each class and check the time and date of your final. Finding out this information will help you plan your week well and get through finals without you forgetting your pencil.

2.       Study, but don’t cram.

Our brains are machines, but like machines they need a break to recharge and keep working. Don’t study last minute; this goes back to time management. Schedule a time to study, but have breaks in between. During those breaks do something like watch TV or another activity to keep your mind off of the topic at hand and then go back to studying. You will feel so much better. Sometimes studying with a group helps – try to gather other people in your classes so that way you can see what you know and what you need to work on more.

3.       Take care of yourself mentally and physically.

You need sleep. You need to eat. It’s inevitable that you will stress and start to worry about your finals, but you need to take care of yourself. If not, then you will be in bed very sick or won’t be able to concentrate on your test because you are feeling terrible – this just wastes all of your hard work!

Good luck and always remember – your best is all you can give!
