Lattes and Lemonade: Noteworthy Los Angeles Eateries

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

With warmer weather and the sounds of summer as semester schools finish up, finding the motivation to studying for those never ending midterms can seem like a daunting task. Find your motivation to study, while simultaneously enjoying sweet, refreshing treats and exploring cute, trendy L.A. neighborhoods.

Coral Tree Cafe

(Brentwood, Los Angeles CA)

Located between Westwood Village and Santa Monica, in Brentwood, Coral Tree Cafe provides the perfect place for a night of studying. Tucked on the corner of San Vicente Blvd. and adorned with lightly lit outdoor seating, Coral Tree Cafe serves both full service dinner and lunch, along with coffee, pastries, and amazing desserts. With a combination of plenty of seating, a relaxing atmosphere and delicious chocolate cake it is the perfect place to study or enjoy coffee with a friend.

Note: Street parking is available directly outside and valet is available behind (only a few dollars with validation).

Must Try: Chocolate Cake!

Literati Cafe

(Santa Monica, Los Angeles CA)

This quaint, hidden cafe on Wilshire Blvd is the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee with a friend, study, work quietly, or to just enjoy the most unique and flavorful mint lemonade. With both indoor and outdoor seating (and plenty of it to go around) this quaint cafe provides the perfect weekend environment. Despite the fact that the food was unanimously “just okay” and the coffee could have been better, the mint lemonade, made fresh daily makes this place worth going back to. With cute, canopied, outdoor tables and a calm, relaxing aura this place is perfect for a warm spring or summer day. The mint lemonade is refreshing and unique, tasting strongly of mint, while simultaneously being flavorful, sweet and refreshing. A must try and a place with a definite “L.A. flare”.

Must try’s: The Mint Lemonade!

Bricks and Scones

(Larchmont Blvd, Los Angeles CA)

With a name like “Bricks and Scones” what’s not to love. Upon entering this cute cafe, hidden on busy Larchmont Blvd. (right off Beverly Blvd) you feel as though you’ve just walked into an old movie. With dark wood floors, a large staircase, a gorgeous jeweled, hanging chandelier and dim lighting, this place provides the perfect work environment. With a beautiful patio, perfect for chatting, the inside is quiet, dimly lit, and rather calming. With large, long tables, perfect for laying things out, and little talking, “Bricks and Scones” is the perfect place to study, dive into work, or read a good book. Charming and eclectic, with the perk of good coffee, I will definitely be returning. The only problem the scones are rather dry; however, the good coffee, fair prices, and cute environment somehow might just make up for that fact!

Note: Parking is located around back for no extra charge :)
