My Sophomore Year Highlights

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Binghamton chapter.

As my sophomore year comes to an end, I find myself getting nostalgic and reflecting on the past year. I really enjoyed myself this year and a lot of fun, exciting things happened! I can’t believe I will be an upperclassman next year (insert monkey covering face emoji here). Here are some of my sophomore year highlights:

1. I lived in new Dickinson!

This year, I lived in a 4-person flat in Dickinson in Johnson Hall. I loved it so much not only because it was beautiful, but because it was such a step up from old Dickinson which is where I lived last year. After that, I think I deserved this luxurious living! I also lived with three of my closet friends here, so we had a blast and made lots of memories.

2. I’m employed!

I got a job this year with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Starting this past November, I became a general supervisor for the Binghamton University Student Ambassador Program. In March, I was promoted to Administrative Coordinator of the program. I have had a great time at all the admitted students events I have attended and worked at. We help two very large and successful open houses this spring. I have also called, emailed and instant messaged prospective students to convince them to come here, and it so rewarding when my convincing works and they thank me!

3. I joined a sorority!

I pledged Sigma Alpha Epsilon Pi this past semester, which has been one of the best decisions I have made here at Binghamton thus far. Although pledging was really rough and time-consuming, it was all worth it in the end because I became so close to my thirteen other Eta pledge sisters. I am really looking forward to becoming close with the rest of the sisterhood next semester.

4. Spring Fling

I always enjoy spring fling here on campus. Although the weather wasn’t great this year, I still really enjoyed myself and had a fun time! Matt and Kim were actually really good even though I wasn’t sure what to expect.

5. Classes

I took some great classes this year! Issues in Education, Yiddish, Nutrition, Developmental Psychology and Contemporary Health Issues were some highlights. It was the first time I was introduced to the Health and Wellness department at Binghamton, and I have to say that the classes they offer and the professors who teach them are really amazing. If I have time, I would love to pursue the HWS minor.

Rachel is from northern New Jersey and is currently a junior at Binghamton University in New York. She is majoring in Psychology with a minor in Education. She has always been interested in fashion, and she loves to write. She was first a news writer and then the Arts and Entertainment editor for her award-winning high school newspaper, The Highland Fling. She now is a contributing news writer to BU's paper, Pipe Dream. She is thrilled to be a new member of the Her Campus team!
