5 Things We All Need to Stop Doing in Recruitment Videos

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tulane chapter.

5 Things We All Need to Stop Doing in Recruitment Videos

1.     Blowing Glitter Into Cameras

RIP your chapter’s $500 one day investment now and forever sharing a lens with 1,000,000 pieces of glitter (although honestly that might look kind of cool ~*psychedelic bid day theme*~?)

2.     Bouncing In Slow Motion

No explanation needed.

3.     Playing Icona Pop, Wagon Wheel, Lana Del Rey Remixes, or any Songs Having to do With the Word “Home”

We all know that we don’t care and that we love it or with a love this deep we don’t need no sleep so it feels like we could do this all night, and that all we need in this life of sin is me and my girlfriend because we got the world, but at this point we all know we’re still going to love each other when we’re no longer young and beautiful and that if you get a bid from this sorority, you’re probably going to feel at home. Spare Wagon Wheel just for the sake of letting it signify the ending of mixers/date parties for your new members for the next 4 years of their lives.

4.     Dancing On Flat Rooftops When There Clearly Is No Music Playing

I love rooftops just as much as the next girl and appreciate their novelty and general indication of a good time, but at some point you need to at least include a metronome so your sisters can try and pretend to girly dance to the same songs.

5.     The Ultimate Worst: Fake Laughter

You love your sisters. I love my sisters. We both know you think they’re hilarious and we all remember that one time she did that one thing at that one place and accidentally texted that one great aunt the thing you meant to text that one boy. Be genuine, be real, and do something stupid to make your best friend laugh so hard that the whole world can see that though you love glitter, bouncing, generic pop music, and dancing on elevated surfaces, your sorority shares a sisterhood and authentic bond that is so transparent it shines right through your glitter encrusted lens.

Honorable Mention: Flower crowns, drinking starbucks
