Love/Hate for the Quad

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Harvard chapter.

Let’s just say it.  It’s on all of our minds, and I’ll be the one to put it out there: The Quad is incredible.

Sophomore year is an adjustment, for sure.  I’m no longer living right next door to the John Harvard statue, but I’m also no longer swimming through tourists to get to the Berg for a bowl of cereal.

The Quad is home.  When I leave in the morning, walking through Porter to grab a coffee, I feel like I am more a part of the city.  When I get back to the Quad at night and see the lit-up Pfoho bell towers, I know I’m back.  So, for all of you freshmen eagerly looking towards Housing Day, here’s a quick list of why the Quad (holla at Cabot) is the best:

1.  The Shuttle

A bus that comes every 10 minutes to take you to the center of campus?  Beats trudging through the snow every day.  Also listening to Beyoncé on your way home from Lamont makes any paper or p-set better.

2.  Rakesh and Stephanie

The Cabot House Masters are truly some of the most caring, intelligent, and kind people at Harvard.  From the open houses to the dhall meal conversations, these two definitely form the “homey” feeling of the Quad.

3. Food

Don’t know if it’s the chefs or something in the water, but the food is just better here. Hands down.

4.  The Lawn

Ever in the mood for a pick-up game of soccer or Frisbee?  How about a midnight dance party?  Quad Lawn is the place to be.

5. Home.

It’s more than a house, it’s a home.
