Foodie Blog: 7 Crazy Combos That’ll Make Your Mouth Water

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wake Forest chapter.

Let’s face it collegiettes, we all get a little tired of eating the same old boring food in our dorm rooms all the time, so why not mix it up and have a little fun with your food? Sometimes stepping outside the box can be a homerun or disaster, but it all depends on your taste buds and adventurous mood. Salty and sweet are almost always a safe bet, but don’t be afraid to mix up two savory foods or combine both breakfast and dinner. You’re in college now, and no one can hold you back from playing with your food. So, have at it!

Nesquik in Vanilla Ice Cream

This is like the ultimate frozen chocolate milk. Two scoops of vanilla ice cream (for Southern collegiettes, Blue-Bell is always the way to go) and one scoop of Nesquik provides the perfect ratio of chocolate to cream. Also an added perk, Nesquik has twenty-five percent less sugar than chocolate syrup, so you could justify this combo as a healthy alternative to your usual late night delight.

Grilled Peanut Butter and Butter Sandwiches

Smother one side of the bread with peanut butter and the other with butter and then throw it into the pan. The warm butter soaks into the pores of the bread as it gets golden brown and crunchy and produces a divine creation sure to melt in your mouth.

Peanut Butter, Banana and Bacon Sandwich

The peanut butter and banana combo has become quite famous thanks to Elvis Presley, and with today’s new obsession with bacon it’s become even better. Also, did you know they serve this in the MAG Room? Keep your eye on the sandwiches because you never know when this delight is going to pop up.

Lays Chips in a Chocolate Milkshake

Who doesn’t love a sweet and salty combo? A big chocolate milkshake (especially from CookOut or In-N-Out Burger) with a handful of chips mixed in offers just the right amount of sugar and salt. The lays are light enough to soak in the milkshake, but thick enough to stay true to their crunch. This is sure to satisfy any craving.

Grilled Cheese and Pepperoni

The classic grilled cheese is always very much enjoyed on it’s own, but can only be improved by adding a little spice. The pepperoni becomes one with the gooey, melty cheese (American of course) and the crunchy bread brings a little bit of Heaven down to Earth. Cutting the sandwich diagonally in half and slowly pulling it apart, observing the strings of cheese, is the peak of this entire eating experience!

Pickles and Peanut Butter

If you’re feeling adventurous, go ahead and reach for that jar of pickles and discover the joy that lies within coating them in peanut butter. The salt from the peanuts and the sour from the pickles come together for the perfect afternoon snack.

And pretty much anything with Nutella…

Nutella is the ultimate snack choice for any foodie because it offers such a wide range of experiments. Whether it’s baked into a sweet or simply covering it, you can never go wrong with Nutella.

Now go ahead and play with your food. Happy eating!
