If you aren’t going home for Thanksgiving, you won’t be the only one. It’ll be a good time to gather your friends for what is now known as a “Friendsgiving.” It’s an eventful day where you come to understand that these people are your family while you’re away from your actual family, and you’ll realize how thankful you are for them. It’s the perfect season to have a Friendsgiving, but you might not know where to start. Here are four ways to do a Friendsgiving:

1. Each Friend Brings Their Favorite Thanksgiving Dish

Instead of putting the responsibility of preparing an entire holiday meal for your friends on yourself, why don’t you ask everyone to bring their favorite Thanksgiving dish? This takes out the stress of wondering how everything will come out and if it’ll actually be ready by the time you said it would be. Plus, it’ll be neat to see everyone’s favorite meal, because it’ll be like learning something new about your old friends.

2. Experiment with Cooking Together

If you would prefer not to have everyone bring their favorite dish with the fear that there might be too many duplicates (no turkey, just a ton of mashed potatoes and stuffing), you can opt to invite everyone to spend the day cooking with you. It’ll be a great bonding experience from the many laughs when you realize that none of you can actually cook, and aren’t the worldly adults you think you are. It’ll be yet another lesson you learn with some of the best people in your life.

3. A Premade Meal

If you want to invite everyone over, but don’t want to cook or have others messing up your kitchen, there’s always premade meals. Many grocery stores offer Thanskgiving services for those who don’t like to cook or who are hosting an overwhelming amount of people. This might be the best option because it guarantees the food will be decent and you can all split the cost. Pick up plastic ware to avoid dishes!

4. Order Takeout

The final way to handle a Friendsgiving when all else fails, like the turkey coming out undone and you’re all starving, is to just order take out. After ordering take out, you can all pile around the television or computer and binge watch whatever on Netflix. Plus, you avoid dishes and leftovers filling up your small fridges.

Happy Friendsgiving!
