The Stages of Thanksgiving: As Told By Rick Ross Gifs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Valdosta chapter.

It’s almost everyone’s favorite time of year which means, gifts, family time, and perhaps most importantly Thanksgiving and winter break!

It’s been a while since your family has seen you since you’ve been away partyingoops, studyingat school which means they’ll have tons of questions, from your love life to your academic semester. Who better than Rick Ross to elaborate the stages of Thanksgiving!

So you’re done with classes and your last final (which you Christmas-treed). You can’t hurry home fast enough

You’ve been away for a while so you have to make a lavish appearance

You finally arrive home and you’ve got to greet your family and kiss everyone you haven’t seen in what seems like years

Before you can even take your shoes off, your Grandma is trying to feed you her world famous greens. She knows you worked up an appetite being away from her cooking for so long

Then, as presumed, the questions come rolling in…

“Are you dating anyone?”

“How’s [insert ex’s name] doing?”

“When do you graduate?”

“How are your grades looking?”

“Did you do well this semester?”

“You’re not having sex are you?”

By this time, you realize you need to pour you a drinkthe questions are getting a little too overwhelming and making you realize you haven’t accomplished a thing

You get your drink and you’re back in the game and ready for what else will be thrown at you this evening

Then that one uncle pulls you to the side and starts giving you lessons on love and life and how you should focus on you

Then your crazy aunt (the one known for her crazy dance moves) starts preaching with your uncle and next thing you know you’re back in Philosophy 1001

You hear your Grandma chime in and now she’s telling you about stories when she was your age

You keep in mind what they say then go catch up with your favorite cousins

You get to talking with your cousins and next thing you know, y’all are exchanging exclusive college stories and secrets

Like that one person you hooked up with in Panama City and how it was one of the craziest nights of your collegiate career

Then you hear about how your 12-year-old cousin has a little girlfriend now and you’re like:

Then all of a sudden, you hear the intro to Frankie Beverly and Maze’s “Before I Let Go” in the background

Then the old school music in conjunction with your drink makes it feel too good to be home

Until your mom says, “I see you dancing!” and grabs your hand and asks you to dance with her

You reluctantly get up and start dancing with your mother (this only happens on certain occasions like this)

Finally, it’s time to eat!

You moonwalk your way into the kitchen

You bless the food with your family and each person states what he or she is grateful for

Then your Grandma, who has been slaving in the kitchen for two days, brings out the honey-glazed ham and oven-roasted turkey

You see all of your favorite sides of stuffing, collard greens and sweet potatoes beautifully arranged on the table topthe food isn’t ready for what’s about to happen

You make your plate while keeping your eye on the macaroni, making sure it’s not all gone by the time you get to that station

You start tasting the food before you can even reach for a fork; your family threw down!

The food’s so good, you just randomly give a shoutout to the first thing you see!

You settle down after eating and reflect on how thankful you are to have family by your side (aka take a nap)

You couldn’t be anymore thankful

Happy Thanksgiving! HCXO
