This week’s Campus Celebrity is an expert multitasker. Meet Evyn Haberstock (left in photo), third year BCom student here at UVic, member of the volleyball club and president of the international entrepreneurial group Enactus.
After spending a year at Thompson Rivers University, Evyn decided the mainland wasn’t for her and took UVic by storm instead. Having been an active member at Enactus TRU, Evyn decided to join Enactus UVic and by the end of the year was elected president.
Enactus is an international collegiate club with the aim to improve the standard of living for those in need through entrepreneurship. So far Evyn has helped send two groups of students to Calgary for the Regional and National Enactus exhibitions of 2014, put on numerous fundraisers, and even started a project to help children learn to grow their own food! This year she’s already helped plan and execute Trick or Eat, a Halloween canned food drive, with JDC West. Together they collected over 1500 cans in one night for the local food bank, Mustard Seed. Though she’s only been president for 4 months, it’s clear that Evyn will be making a huge impact in the Victoria and UVic community!
When Evyn isn’t busy with project management and fundraising, you can find her on the basketball and volleyball courts. Refusing to be beaten down by the hectic third year BCom schedule, Evyn manages to be active (literally!) on the basketball intramural team and both the volleyball intramural team and club. She also recently participated with a team in the Mud, Sweat & Tears run, a high intensity obstacle course with the goal to push you to your limits. Her peers may know Evyn as a leader, however she’s also a great team player!
Evyn currently plans to graduate with a degree in entrepreneurship, a major that fits her team leading and time management skills to a T. Although she isn’t quite sure where her degree will take her, she is currently considering a future in consulting or non-profit work. Whatever Evyn chooses, we know that she’ll be going far!
