Fun Fact!: I took women’s self defense in high school, and I fought a former cage fighter (in front of my parents) at the end of the semester.

What is your official position in the Penn Fashion Collective?

Vice President of External Affairs

Describe some of your responsibilites in the club.

I plan speaker events and collaborative events with other clubs. Last semester, I organized an internship panel about working in the fashion/retail industry, and this semester my big focus will be helping to plan Penn Fashion Week.

How long have you been involved with the Collective?

Since freshman year! I’ve helped backstage and designed/sewn clothes for the fashion shows, and I used to be the student apparel coordinator.

What Collective events are coming up?

Our first ever clothing drive, which I’m super excited about. We’ve partnered with Our Closet (ourclosetpa.org/), which provides clothing to people in need through weekly boutique-style “shops” at various locations in West Philly. Collection boxes will be all over campus (Commons, Houston, Rodin, Penn Women’s Center, and Hillel) and we’re collecting men’s and women’s clothes/shoes/accessories in good condition.

What is one of your favorite events that the Collective hosts?

The spring fashion show! It’s the bigger of our two shows and is so much fun to help produce. Everything–student apparel, decorations, apparel from local boutiques, and hair and makeup–really comes together for the theme. This year’s theme will feature some really interesting looks, so stay tuned…

How can interested Penn fashionistas get involved with the Penn Fashion Collective?

Join a committee–we’re always looking for help backstage or with planning events. Signing up for our listserv is the easiest way to find out about opportunities throughout the semester.
