6 Must-Have Items That Will Still Look Good When Trekking Through The Snow

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVU chapter.

Ladies, winter has arrived and we are all faced with the trauma of dredging through the snow to get to our 8 AM classes. During these hard, cold months we usually end up giving up and piling on layers of old t-shirts and sweatshirts with sweatpants tucked into snow boots (or for some of the brave ones, Uggs), just to keep from getting Hypothermia on our 5 minute walk to class. But who says we can’t look just as cute in the snow as we do relaxing by the pool? Here are 6 trendy items that will not only look good, but keep you from getting Frostbite!

1. Long Puffy Parkas

Whether you get one that is knee-length, to the ankles, with a fur hood, without, it doesn’t matter; these puffy parkas are all over campus and keeping women warm everywhere. They are insulated enough to keep you snug but a lot of them are slightly tailored to show off your figure.

2. Knit Headbands and Beanies

Headbands and beanies have been popular the past few years, but continue to develop new styles. Remember when you were little and you wore the little fuzzy ball on your snow hat? That’s coming back in and what better way to show your school spirit then with a Mountaineers beanie while also keeping your ears toasty.

3. Hunter Boots

Forget bulky snow boots! This classic item comes in a variety of colors and styles. The best part? They work in rain and snow and even look stylish on a cloudy day. They are slim-fitting to the leg so you wont look like a fishermen. You can also buy the socks separately to add more style to the boot and they keep your toes VERY warm.

4. Knit Knee-High Socks

We all know socks keep you warm and winter is all about layers, but a pair of cute knee high socks peeking out over your boots can add so much to an outfit. The great part is you don’t just have to use them for class. Throw on a simple dress, put on some knee-high socks, a pair of boots, booties, or Litas and you can have a night out on the town without freezing to death.

5. Over-Sized Cowl Neck Sweaters

Before you freak out and say that oversized sweaters have obviously been the go-to throw on item for like two years now, wait. There is a new twist on this staple item…cowl necks. This has become one of my favorite garments because who doesn’t love a sweater with a built in scarf? Enough said.

6. Gloves You Can Text With

I felt it necessary to put this item on the list, because although this isn’t the newest invention and has been around for a couple years I still think every girl should own a pair. The logistics of how they make it so you can still text with gloves on is unclear to me, but you can’t tell me this isn’t the best thing to have when you’re texting your friend to save you a seat because the PRT broke down.
