This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal Poly chapter.

One of the great things about college is that you can go out and try new things that you hadn’t even thought of before. A great way to do this is to join some new clubs on campus. There are so many opportunities to find a club that is centered around a hobby of yours that you want to continue during college, or if you want to try something new and meet a whole new group of people. However, here at Cal Poly, there may be some clubs you haven’t heard of yet. There is such a variety at Cal Poly, that you might be surprised at some of the clubs that are available to you.

Badminton Club

This club gets together a few times a week to practice for intercollegiate competitions. It is fun and relaxed and could be a good way to meet new people and play a fun sport.

Climbers Club

If you like climbing and mountaineering, then this club might be for you. This club participates in rock-climbing competitions, out-door climbing trips  and different clinics to improve techniques.

Forensic Science Club

This club is for people that want to learn more about forensic science. They meet up and are able to use some of the equipment that professionals in the field use and view demonstrations from professionals.

Global Food Tasters

Here is a club all about food. This group of people shares a passion for food and culture. The club members are able to learn about different foods from around the world, cook some of the dishes and learn about the ties between food and culture. Each meeting is themed with a specific country and you cook food from that country and learn about its history.

Sailing Team

The team, which welcomes sailors of all levels, sails out of Morro Bay and Lopez Lake. They travel often to sail in both competitive and noncompetitive regattas.

These are just a few options that are available for you. There are tons of unique clubs on campus to suit any interest. So go out and try something new!

I am a journalism major here at the amazing Cal Poly. My goal is to get paid to travel. The ultimate dream job would be to work for National Geographic or a magazine similar to that. I caught the travel bug when I went to China my sophomore year of high school. Since then I have been to Costa Rica, Spain and France. I hope to add to my list this summer and then maybe study abroad with Cal Poly. I love everything that has to do with the outdoors. I enjoy hiking, swimming, biking and yoga. I love writing and am so excited to be a part of Her Campus!
