Q: What made you want to take on such a serious leadership position within Greek life?A: I’ve been involved in PHC as Assistant Delegate, and was Kappa Delta Panhellenic Delegate last year, so I really enjoyed working with the Greek Community as a whole.

Q: What assumptions do people have of Greek life that you love to prove wrong?A: That we are clique-y, pay for our friends and only care about ourselves. I love how each organization has unique members.

Q: If you could meet one person who has influenced you, who would it be?A: Nelson Mandela. He really just embodies everything I want to be and what people should really strive to be. Or David Beckham because c’mon who doesn’t love him.

Q: What makes you proud to be a member of the Greek Community?A: Being in Kappa Delta with the loss of one of our sisters recently, we had so many people here and from other chapters were there for us. It was authentic caring and love, people being real when telling us they will be there for us if we need them.

Q: With all that has happened this past academic year, what encouraging words can you offer our fellow Mountaineers?A: Other cities and newspapers report that we are struggling community, but looking around I don’t think we are. Our community is being brought closer. We have friendships being formed out of this hard time. We’re growing from all this and need to continue to grow in the years to come. We are so fortunate to go to a school where we can be who we want to be and there is always someone who is like family to us here. It isn’t just our student body, our professors know who we are and they don’t see as just a number. We are so fortunate to have that type of life up here and we need to remember that in hard times.

Coming Up: No Letters, No Teams, Just Love: A Night of Awarness at Appalachian. On Wednesday, February 25th at 7:30pm we ask that students gather wearing Appalachian apparel at The Rock outside of Kidd Brewer Stadium to take part in a night of awareness recognizing our fallen Mountaineers. We will all walk together as a cohesive student body from the stadium to the Parkway Ballroom in the Student Union, with stops along the way recognizing each of our fallen Mountaineers. The last stop will be in the Parkway Ballroom where we will all remember the lives of unnamed students, faculty, and staff that we have lost this year.

We have invited administrators and recognized student leaders to speak at this gathering about our Appalachian community and what we need to do make it strong again.
