The Second Annual FCBC Fashion Show

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

This past Friday, the Fashion Club of Boston College held its Second Annual Fashion Show. The Rat was transformed into a runway and stage as models showcased the designs of Daisy Spade, Duchess, Clear Classics, Vineyard Vines, Rightside Shirts, and makeup and designs by Cindy Chen, A&S ’16. In addition to the runway walks, BC’s female step team, F.I.S.T.S. (Females Incorporating Sisterhood Through Step) performed along with Juice—BC’s own “funk jam band.”

The Fashion Club of Boston College began only last year, and has grown considerably to include networking events with companies such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdales, a yearly magazine publication titled À La Mode, speakers, and a growing fashion blog in addition to the Fashion Show.

Daisy Spade, who’s mantra is, “Southern charm meets city style,” and Duchess, a local boutique in Newton, provided super chic, head-to-toe looks complete with leather leggings, jumpsuits, and printed tanks for the not-so-preppy BC girl, while Vineyard Vines (probably the most popular brand at BC) showed twelve different spring-ready looks ranging from casual sun dresses to button-downs and bowties.

Abhinav Adi, a designer and aspiring musician from Northeastern University, showed off his own graphic t-shirt line called Clear Classics. He says the purpose of the company is, “to bring creative tank designs to college kids within the Boston area, in which 20% of the proceeds goes to the Make A Difference charity in India.”

Rightside Shirts is a non-profit organization which seeks to promote creativity and support youth art education. Their colorful t-shirts feature artwork by young students, and 100% of their profits go towards art supplies and art education.

The final and most striking collection of the night was Cindy Chen’s, a junior here at BC who focuses on high fashion design and makeup. Her four muses donned face and body paint and texturally-stimulating costumes.

The FCBC executive board walked on stage for a final showcase of Shanti & Deva handmade ethnic jewelry, designed and created by Boston College senior, Julia Hirsch.

The show was a great success and the club hopes to grow the show considerably next year! Keep an eye out for information if you’re interested in modeling in next year’s show or if you’re thinking about showcasing your own designs. Thank you to the Heights for these amazing photos!

I am a Political Science major and Women's and Gender Studies minor at Boston College. I am an RA on campus and am involved in the Student Admissions Program. Since I am from Florida, I can legitimately say that I love long walks on the beach. I also love getting lost in a world fabricated by a novel, there is honestly nothing better.
