Campus Celebrity, A First Year on Fire: Lindsey Feltis

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wilfrid Laurier chapter.

It usually takes people a while to settle into university, but not this Golden Hawk! Lindsey has been passionate and involved since the moment she stepped foot on campus. With a big personality and a bigger heart, it is no shock that she has embraced her first year and ran with it. Meet the lovely Lindsey!

Name: Lindsey Feltis

Program: Psychology & Communications

Hometown: Waterloo

Year: First

What are you involved in at Laurier?

The first thing I got involved in was House Council, and my ice breaker told me to apply for First Year Project and then I got it and loved it! Then I was a general member for Free The Children, and I was on the organizing committee for Five Days as well as Olivia Matthews’s campaign team.

What sparked your interest to get involved?

O- Week was magical for me. My ice breakers, my don, my head ice breakers – it was the best way to start my Laurier experience and the next four years of my life.

What have you learned this year from being involved?

People rock! When you aren’t afraid to join clubs and be crazy, you meet people who change you. Every club and person you meet changes you in a different way.

I also learned that Laurier rocks! The passion is unreal, whether it is on House Council and the passion for your residence, or Five Days and the passion for advocating for homeless youth, or Free The Children and passion for social justice. Passion is such a cool thing and to see people passionate about different things lights a fire; I hope that I can keep interacting with such passioante people and that we get to fuel others to find what they are passionate about.

What song is your jam?

“Positive”, from Legally Blonde the Musical. It’s so pump up, I love that song!

What is your dream job?

I want to be a child psychologist, and the absolute dream would be to work with in-patient facilities with teen or adolescents.

Or I’ll be a singer on broadway, either one.

What is something you want to do before graduating WLU?

From the beginning of my time at Laurier, I knew that I wanted to ice break, and I just found out that I got it! I really wanted to have this experience because I had awesome ice breakers that sparked this love for Laurier and I really want to ignite that in other first years!

How would your friends describe you in three words?

Loud, crazy, and I hope they would say I was compassionate/a good friend.

If you could date one celeb who would it be?

Hunter Hayes because he is so adorable and he can sing like nobody’s business… and he is easy on the eyes! He has got it all.

What would you do on your first date?

I just love talking and I love sushi, so if he doesn’t like sushi that’s a deal breaker! We would go to sushi and converse for hours over spicy salmon rolls. Then we could play guitar and sing. Have a little dinner and jam sesh.

What would you title your first album?

Something really authentic, such as ‘My Heart Songs.’

If you could bring one thing to a deserted island.. what would it be?

I have a camp bin and it started as a bin of memories from camp but it has morphed into a bin of letters, birthday cards, concert tickets and warm fuzzies.

What is your word of advice to your fellow Golden Hawks!

Get involved and cherish the people that you meet. Be constantly be expanding your friend group, or you will miss out on such cool and fascinating people. So meet people and cherish the connections that you make!

From her involvement and dedication in both the Students’ Union and Residence Life, this first year Golden Hawk is on fire and has one bright future ahead of her! We can’t wait to see what you conquer next Lindsey, you are a star!

You can typically find katy cuddled up with her favourite blankie, under the twinkle lights, drinking some peppermint tea and listening to Ben Howard. She spends her evenings switching between gushing over wedding videos and catching up on some Gilmore Girls. She loves her little nephew, everything knit, & all things with sparkles.
