7 Reasons Why Seniors Need MacDinton’s in Their Lives

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tampa chapter.

Wednesday night and Friday night Happy Hours, Thursday night dollar beers, good music, perfect location, and great company; what more could you ask for in a night out? Now some might think us regulars are crazy for going to MacDinton’s so often. Aren’t there other bars in town to go to? Well yeah, there is, but they don’t hold up much to MacDits. Logically, bars should need us, but in this case, we probably need it more than it needs us.

1.  We’re broke AF

We can barely afford dinner at Applebee’s and a movie ticket afterwards, but by the grace of God, we can afford MacDinton’s – at least on Wednesday’s, Thursday’s and Friday’s! $10 Happy Hours and $1 beers is basically the college equivalent of taking candy from a baby.

2.  All of our friends are there

We need to get in all the friend time that we can before May 9th, when everyone unfortunately goes into the real-people world. And it’s no secret that MacDits is the place to be, so where else would any of us really try to go?

3.  They sell alcohol

Let’s be real, we need a little booze in our lives. Between trying to find a job, a place to live, figuring out how the hell you’re going to pay back your loans, and still try to keep up with your school work, we’re gonna need a drink…or five.

4. It’s guaranteed fun (for the most part)

Karaoke, dancing, drinks, and your best friends; that sounds like the recipe for a perfect night out, doesn’t it? We need to pack in as much fun, and as many crazy nights as we can, before we don’t have that luxury anymore and have to become grown-ups.

5.  For the story

Not the Snapchat story. There’s always a story to be told by the end of a night out at MacDinton’s to tell your friends for years to come. Oh, you met Josh from The Bachelorette on the patio? Well I led the dance floor in an Ignition remix. Cool, I got to snag a seat at the patio ledge and laugh my ass off all night people-watching.

6.  If you want to look like a bum, you can look like a bum

After four years there is really no one left to impress. So, you can wear your leggings and oversized t-shirt and not even feel bad about it.

7.  Home is where MacDinton’s is

MacDinton’s is the only constant in our lives right now. We may not know where we’ll be living, or working, or when any of that will happen for us, but we always know that $1 Beers and Happy Hour will always be there for us when we need them.

A senior at the University of Tampa, Brianne is finishing up her degree in Communications. After graduation, she hopes to have a job in her field of choice; whether it be in her home state of Massachusetts, here in Tampa, or somewhere new and exciting. And if that doesn’t work out as planned, she has her reality television applications ready at hand - say hello to your next Bachelorette! But until graduation day, Brianne has full blown Peter Pan Syndrome. As she refuses to grow up, you can find her watching Disney movies, planning trips to the zoo to feed the giraffes, eating dessert for dinner, and coloring any chance she gets. Buzzfeed, Netflix, anything coconut, and wine are also some of her guilty pleasures.
