5 Things You’ll Miss the Most About Marist This Summer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Marist chapter.

It’s that time of the year again, the spring semester is almost over and finals are quickly approaching. But in the midst of all of the stress and worrying, we have to take some time to appreciate the best parts of Marist and the things we will miss the most about it when we leave for the summer!

1. Rossi’s

Ahh, the deli we have become obsessed with over the past few years. There are plenty of good sandwich shops at home but nothing compares to Rossi’s. The best part is that they are fairly priced. You can get a HUGE panini for under $10. And it goes well with your Dunkin’ coffee as you can see below. There is just nothing better than a sandwich from Rossi’s!

2. Dorming

I believe that dorming away from home is an important part of the college experience. While you love spending time with your family, living away at school gives you a sense of freedom. You feel like a “real” adult without having those “real” responsibilities like paying bills. You get to do your own thing and, most importantly, eat and sleep when you want. Learning about things like time management come along with living on campus and are crucial for your life after Marist.

3. Marist Beach

We have had some really perfect days for Marist Beach during the past few weeks. Marist Beach is just something so unique that not many schools have. Seeing everyone outside playing Frisbee, having a catch or just tanning on their blankets provides a sense of community. What’s cool about Marist Beach is that it’s pretty much right outside your door if you are a freshman or a sophomore. You can always find someone to hang out with there and it’s definitely one of the best parts about Marist. Plus, it’s the perfect people watching spot!

4. Your friends!

You begin dreading going home for three months for the summer because you remember that you have to leave the friends that have turned into your family. You can make plans to see them but it’s just not the same as living with them and seeing them every day. You will text every day like crazy just to keep them up to date on your life! Chances are these will be the people that will be in your wedding party and be the Godparents to your future children! These are the people that know what your college experience was really like because they are the ones that lived it with you.

5.  Those Marist sunsets

The sunsets over the Hudson River are just so breathtaking sometimes. As your day comes to an end and you are walking across campus after your 5 p.m. class, you just have to stop and take a minute to appreciate where you are. You are on one the most beautiful college campuses in America and seeing that sunset reminds you to take a deep breath, relax and let all of your stress go for just a few minutes. You just can’t get that same picture perfect sunset at home!
